Grasshopper Sundae
Here is a recipe that was “designed” by Rachel Ray and taken from her magazine, EveryDay with Rachael Ray. She also has a website: rachelraymag.com. *Her original recipe calls for alcohol, but you can make a suitable substitution. **You could also replace the brownies with crushed chocolate cookies or even shortbread. 3 brownies 1 pint mint chocolate chip ice cream 6 Tabl. crème de menthe 1 cup heavy cream, whipped, chocolate shavings, for garnish. Crumble the brownies and divide among 4 long stemmed glasses. Place 2 scoops of chocolate mint ice cream in each glass. Pour the creme de menthe over the ice cream, and top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Very refreshing!
Bonding with grandchildren
This is a neat idea that a neighbor gave me. When her first grandson was born, she bought a scrapbook. She waited until he was older so he could “help” design and decorate the cover. She wanted the cover to reflect his life. He drew cars, trucks, and pictures of his trip to Disneyland. When my neighbor had her grandson for sleep overs, she would take pictures of him or do artwork together. The pictures and artwork were recorded, mounted, and dated. This was one of the graduation gifts she gave him when he graduated from college. My neighbor made memory scrap books with all five of her grandchildren, and she says it was their favorite gift from her.
Fruity iced tea, just what you need on a hot summer’s day!
I love this recipe and make it all the time, especially during the summer. And, it is low in calories too! Simmer 8 cups of water with 6 tea bags. Pour into a pitcher with cherries, strawberries and slices of citrus fruit. Chill and serve over ice. It even tastes better the next day. *I drink my tea, without sugar, but if you do want it sweet, you can add a sweetener. Torani Cane Sugar Sweetener dissolves quickly into any cold drink.
Bonding with your little kitty
I have found out the hard way, not to pet my little kitty on her tummy. Cats feel very vulnerable when we touch them in that location. Cats liked to be stroked on the upper cheek between the ear and eye. Their upper cheeks have many scent glands. They mark their territory and will also rub this area on other cats as well as people to bond.
